I really have trouble remembering.
So I left off with heading out for a run, which I did, which was awesome. Really, the mix I got from rockmyrun.com really changed things for me. Then yesterday I did 30 on the elliptical and weights. The elliptical felt really good (thanks again to a new, high energy song mix) but the weights were so so. I felt really shaky and weak at the end of each set- I’m not sure why. Today I ran about 2 miles in 30 minutes. I definitely thought I went farther, but that’s okay. What I am happy about is I ran more than I walked. I was doing week two of the couch to 5k, but I really prefer running to a nice song mix.

Not sure where I left off?
I think I am three days behind, counting today. Wednesday I donated blood, so Thursday, which was weights ended up being 30 minutes on the elliptical and then just leg weights, because my arm was sore. Yesterday, Friday, I was going to run, but time just got away from me, so it ended up being my one off day this week. Today I am planning on running. As soon as the baby wakes up, I’m going to head out.

Today again, and yesterday too.
Yesterday was couch to 5k week two. That’s about 30 min of activity which takes me about 2 miles. Today was 30 min on the elliptical which was about 2.22 miles and then a circuit of weight machines. Sunday was my day of rest.

Salman Rushdie: Christopher Hitchens (Vanity Fair, Feb 2012)
On June 8th, 2010, I was “in conversation” with Christopher Hitchens at the 92nd Street Y in New York in front of his customary sellout audience, to launch his memoir, Hitch-22. Christopher turned in a bravura performance that night, never sharper, never funnier, and afterwards at a small,…

Anyway, on to today.
Did a 15 minute warm-up on the elliptical and then 15 reps on each weights machine.

Five days in a row.
Yesterday I had my weights orientation and did 10 reps on 18 machines. Today I did 30 minutes on the elliptical with a total of 2.35 miles, then this afternoon I ran outside while pushing Nova- my couch to 5k workout. I’m still doing week one, so it was about 30 minutes total and about 1.6 miles. I’m feeling good about being active again. Not doing anything diet-wise except taking a vitamin and cutting back a wee bit on my alcohol consumption.

Run of the Mill
Treadmill. Okay, I did not participate in December’s weight loss challenge like I had planned to. That is alright. It just took me a bit more time to get in the swing of things. January 1, 2 and 3 have gotten me off to a good start. January 1, I got back to the couch to 5k program (amazing that you lose fitness gains so fast!) I did week one for 30 minutes and 1.7 miles on the treadmill. January 2 I did 3o minutes on the elliptical for 2.8 miles and today I did the couch to 5k on the treadmill for 1.61 miles (30 minutes). I even set up a weights machine orientation for tomorrow morning. I used to do weights years ago, and it really made a difference. The reason I want to do all this isn’t even really to lose weight- I just want to be fit enough to do fun things with my friends like run and bike. Speaking of friends, I’m off to the facebook group to see what’s brewing over there.

Day Five?
I think it is day five, since it is December 5th. Good news- I DID go to the YMCA once over the weekend as I hoped I would. I went swimming with my family. Bad news- I’m still drinking beer, eating whatever I want and not being active.

Day Two
I forgot to post yesterday. Really, haven’t made any changes yet. I weighed in at 155.2. I really need to get back to being active. I was working out 4 days a week and for the past few months it has been ZERO! My first goal is to make it to the YMCA one time before Monday. It is a busy weekend, but I know I can do it!

Pre-Day One
Doing a holiday weight loss challenge with fellow twitters: @mrsfonck @nmaestas @jennymaestas @jelemu @TheAng Not sure if we are doing percentage lost or pounds- it was bandied about 15lbs for dudes, 10 for the ladies. I’m signing on because I’ve stopped running and my pants have gotten tight. This is a great motivator to kick it back in gear. It has already helped me today as I said NO to a breakfast doughnut and NO to a fast food lunch today!
